Why do people admire real-acted movies, then say animated movies are not that good?
(And by animated, I mean 2D animation, not 3D.) But I don't get why people automatically think an animated movie is a children's movie just because it's animated. Animation is an art, just like acting. I have nothing against real movies whatsoever, but I just don't understand why people do not like animated movies and or videos because they are drawn and created instead of acted and directed.

- I've been a fan of quality family entertainment for all my life, and I feel sorry for people who skip "Beauty and the Beast," or "Shrek," or "Toy Story," or "The Prince of Egypt" because they think that they (the films) are for kids. I loved all of the above and lots, lots more, and not just CGI animation either. Disney's most recent (?) "The Princess and the Frog" was delightful, with really great songs, too!
- That's only the opinion of some people. i love live action films, but an animated film can be just as good, if not better.
- For me it depends on the age level a cartoon is directed to. A Sailor Moon cartoon is not for me at all. The first Shrek movie just made me laugh almost the whole way through it. I loved it. Up the same, loved it. Lots of these movies adults like to see because they aren't just geared towards 4 year olds. I don't see why you think so many adults don't like animation, they do. May just be the adults you have contact with. At my one job a few years ago there were about 3 people that watched the south park series faithfully every week, these were people that had kids in high school. I have seen them all myself. Actually I don't consider shrek to be a kids movie, it has way to many jokes in it that are really more for adults. What kid knows about the dating game tv show that was made fun of in it.
