what is the exact name of the program used to make flash animations?

it may be dumb, but whats the program called, is it just flash or is their a company name in it... and how much does it cost. thanks in advance.

1. The biggie is Adobe Flash CS3 Professional List price US$699. (Adobe bought Macromedia a while back) Google "flash software" for more reasonable priced software.
2. I think it is called macromedia flash player I'm not exactly sure. Sorry
